NFC tag attendance tracking
NFC — the short-range RFID technology built into modern phones — is the fastest way to mark attendance in My NFC Attendance: tap a tag against the phone and the student is checked in. It’s built for classrooms where speed matters and students may not carry a phone of their own.
Tap and it’s done
Hold a student’s NFC tag or card near the phone and attendance is marked instantly — no camera angle to line up, no code to hold still.
Nothing to charge or install
NFC tags are passive — no battery, no app, nothing for the student to open. A card in a pocket or on a lanyard is enough.
One tag per student, linked for the year
Issue a tag once during enrollment and link it to a student’s profile — it keeps working across every course, seminar, and lab all year.
Falls back gracefully
Lost or forgotten a tag? Fall back to a QR code or manual tap for that session without breaking the attendance record.
Setting up NFC tags
From a course roster, write a blank NFC tag or card for each student and associate it with their profile. From then on, that tag is theirs — tap it during any session to mark attendance, no re-registration needed.
NFC vs QR codes: which should you use? What works on which platform
My NFC Attendance ships as a native mobile app and as a browser-based web app on the same account and the same backend. Most capabilities match — a few depend on what the device and browser actually support, so here it is plainly rather than glossed over.
