No. Each student gets a unique QR code or NFC tag linked to their profile, and can save it as a pass to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet — nothing to install to be scanned in.

You can always fall back to manual entry, or keep a printed backup QR code on hand for exactly this situation.

Every scan is encrypted and goes through a secure external API into an external database. Role-based access control follows the principle of least privilege, so data stays visible only to authorised users. See our Terms & Privacy page for details.

Attendance is recorded on your device as you scan, so a session keeps working even with a shaky connection. Hit Sync whenever you’re back online to upload it to the cloud — submitting does need a live connection at that point.

The native app runs on iOS (App Store) and Android (Google Play). There’s also a browser-based web app — QR scanning and manual marking work in any modern browser, while NFC tap-in on the web currently works only in Chrome or Edge on Android, since that’s the only combination that exposes NFC to a website today.

Yes, in the native app — NFC read, write, and bulk-write all work on iOS as well as Android. On the web app specifically, NFC tap-in is Android Chrome/Edge only, since no browser currently exposes NFC to a website on iPhone; QR scanning works fine on iPhone in either case.

No. Every tag read is checked against the hardware serial number registered to that student, not just the data stored on the tag, so a duplicated tag with a copied payload is rejected.

Yes. Bulk NFC tag writing walks through a class roster one tag at a time, with live progress, duplicate-tag detection, and retry on failure — on the native app on iOS and Android, and on the web app on Android Chrome/Edge.

Any standard writable NFC tag or card — the NTAG-family tags commonly used for ID badges, stickers, and wristbands work well. They’re passive, so there’s no battery to replace and nothing to charge.

Yes. Upload an Excel file for a serie and the whole roster is added at once, on the native app or the web app.

Remove the old tag from their profile and issue a new one — their attendance history isn’t affected either way.

Yes — anyone with an account and access to that course can log in, open the subject, and start scanning immediately, without learning a seating chart.

Yes. Give a course, seminar, or laboratory a weekly, fortnightly, monthly, daily, or one-off schedule and follow it in a month, week, or day calendar — in the app or in the browser. You can cancel or reschedule a single date, and students see their own calendar.

Yes — session reminders, cancellation and reschedule alerts, and announcements, in an in-app inbox and as phone notifications. In the web app the browser can show desktop notifications while the app is open. You choose which kinds to receive in Settings.

Yes. Give students unique codes when importing the roster, and accounts with the right permission can choose an Anonymized export, which swaps names for codes and shuffles the rows.
